The Reverend Larry Lyon and Jean Faour Wedding Vows
Larry and Jean were married December 14, 2002 at one of their Texas Firelight Theater house concerts.
Albert & Gage (Christine and Chris) were the headline act and also performed at the wedding.
Ken Gaines recited the vows, the Reverend Nick Rawson officiated before a house full of their dear friends and family.
Larry & Jean created their unique expression of commitment to each other to each other and they have been repeatedly asked to provide a copy of their vows.
So here they are below, feel free to use them if you like, modify them if you prefer, give us credit if you wish.
Peace thru Music,
Larry & Jean Lyon
Our Vows
We are gathered this evening
In the spirit of caring and giving,
Kindness and joy,
Laughter and music.
Tonight we embrace
And share in the love
Which fills this house,
Blesses this home,
And is a bond between us all,
For which we are all blessed.
Tonight this woman,
Jean Goins Faour
and this man
Larry Don Lyon
Have requested we witness their declaration
Of life-long honor,
Respect, devotion
And above all
A sincere and genuine love for each other.
Each has traveled many miles on their life's journey
Before their paths first crossed,
Each growing stronger and wiser
With every trial and tribulation along the way.
Each struggled as a single parent
To provide a safe, warm, and caring home for their children,
And those children, who join us here tonight,
Have grown into strong, loving, and honorable young adults
In a large part because of the love and devotion of these two before us.
Let us remember
Our past does not determine our future,
But will always be a part us,
And has helped create who we are today………
(Albert and Gage play "In My Life" by Lennon/McCartney)
There are places I remember all my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better, some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments with lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers, there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning when I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection for people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more...
Please take each other's hands and repeat after me.....
Tonight we join hands
To begin our life's journey together.
Our journey will not always be an easy path.
And will sometimes cross thru deep valleys and high mountains.
But we will always remember
It is in the deepest valleys the coolest waters flow,
And from the tallest mountains one has the greatest view.
We are children of our earth
And our universe.
From the East,
Let the rising sun give us light to guide us on our journey,
Awake us each day with a love which is stronger than the day before,
And instill within us a desire to discover more about each other.
From the North
Let the cold winds prepare us for adversity,
Inspire us to work together to overcome any challenge,
And help us unite in order to resolve our differences.
From the South,
May a gentle warmth fill our every embrace
Allow us to sow seeds of joy,
Reap the fruits of happiness,
And always remember how to play.
From the West,
May the setting sun help us fear not the coming of night,
For the stars shine brightest when the heavens are darkest.
May the darkness help us to live each day to the fullest.
For as each day must come to an end,
So must each life.
Such is the circle of life.
May I have the rings…….Please repeat after me…….
I, (Larry Lyon & Jean Faour in turn), give myself to you
And with this ring,
I join your circle of life.
I will always be by your side
In sickness and health
Richer or poorer
Young or old
Until my days shall end.
Reverend Nick Rawson then makes it official:
By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you Man and Wife
